Farshid Moussavi

  • Use of reflection through reflective materials (e.g mirrors) to blur boundaries between the building and its surrounding environment
  • Tesselation of shapes and patterns in three directions (horizontal, vertical, curved) to represent the flexibility of architecture
  • Repetition or a stack of basic shapes and patterns in a fashion that appears as a manipulated shape as a whole
  • Use of the simplest geometric shapes to liberate the space and scale of architecture
  • Environmental integration; producing architecture in response to the surrounding urban environment
Luis Barragan
  • Focus of bright colours;"I underline the study of colour above all" - Luis Barragan
  • Juxtaposition of dense buildings against the natural environment
