EXPERIMENT 2: IMAGE CAPTURES (FINAL SUBMISSION)

Due to my electroliquid aggregation concept, this monument is integrated and held between two landscapes which represents the contrast between the mass of the landscape and its dense blocks of the monuments. The geography is integral to the design to give this monument the appearance of it floating above the water, while maintaining a robust attachment to the rocky mountains.

The meeting point for architecture students is created through the environment which further represents the integration of the landscape with its monuments.  The meeting point is located between both monuments so that the students are able to view both at the same time. In the middle of the meeting place are where log benches are placed.

The geography is integral to the second design of the monument, giving it an appearance as if floating above the water, while maintaining a robust attachment to the land.

The environmental integration is crucial to the design of the monuments as they are embedded into the landscape, which relates to the electroliquid aggregation concept as the dense blocks of the monuments create an attraction against the environment.

Both monuments and the meeting point are all connected to each other, enabling the students to explore the landscape as well as the monuments through the pathway created on the water to represent the interconnection between the surrounding environment and its minimalistic appearance of the blocks.

WEEK THREE: 36 TEXTURES

WEEK TWO: ELECTROLIQUID AGGREGATION

Two Concepts

Farshid Moussavi:
  • Environmental integration; producing architecture in response to the surrounding urban environment
Luis Barragan:
  • Minimalistic appearance

Electroliquid Aggregation

The use of minimalistic shapes and patterns allows the monument to attract attention in its natural surroundings due to the contrast between the mass of the vegetation and its dense blocks of each monument.

WEEK ONE: DEVELOPED AXONOMETRIC

During the first week of the tutorial classes, my tutor asked to develop one of the sketch axonometrics as a test to see if cryengine had worked properly whilst also playing around with the tools and techniques of the program. This was the outcome.

EXPERIMENT 2: WEEK ONE - CONCEPTS

Farshid Moussavi

  • Use of reflection through reflective materials (e.g mirrors) to blur boundaries between the building and its surrounding environment
  • Tesselation of shapes and patterns in three directions (horizontal, vertical, curved) to represent the flexibility of architecture
  • Repetition or a stack of basic shapes and patterns in a fashion that appears as a manipulated shape as a whole
  • Use of the simplest geometric shapes to liberate the space and scale of architecture
  • Environmental integration; producing architecture in response to the surrounding urban environment
Luis Barragan
  • Focus of bright colours;"I underline the study of colour above all" - Luis Barragan
  • Juxtaposition of dense buildings against the natural environment
  • Minimalistic appearance
  • Box of surprises
